Saint John police are looking for a suspect after a man walking with a walker was robbed.

Officers responded to reports of a person screaming in the 200 block of King Street East just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

According to investigators, a 61-year-old man was reportedly approached by a man armed with a weapon.

“There was a struggle and the suspect stole the man’s bags and wallet,” police said in a news release on Wednesday.

The victim was examined by paramedics but was not physically hurt, said police.

Investigators said the suspect fled the scene on foot heading toward Pitt Street.

He is described as 5’3″ tall, between 30 and 40 years old, with shaved hair on the sides of his head and braids on the top. He was wearing a dark winter jacket at the time.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video footage or surveillance of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Saint John Police Force at 506-648-3333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
