More housing could be on the way to Bedford West.

The province says Housing Minister John Lohr has approved a 155-unit building on Kearney Lake Rd, to be built by Universal Realty Group (2012) Limited.

The development will include an active transportation trail as well as future bus stops.

The building will be constructed in a special planning area, which is a part of town that gives the minister authority to approve developments that come recommended by the Executive Panel on Housing in the HRM.

It is already the second to be approved in Bedford West, since the area was designated a special planning area in 2022.

The province and HRM will now work together on a development agreement.

The building will be in addition to the thousands of homes already approved for that area which include apartments, town homes as well as single-family units.
