More funding is on the way from the province for mental health support.

The government will provide a one-time payment of $1 million to the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia’s Community Grant Program, which funds projects through charities, community groups and organizations.

Up to $25,000 each will be awarded to projects that focus on mental health support and services.

Brian Comer, Minister of Addictions and Mental Health. “This additional funding will help connect more Nova Scotians of all ages to care and support of all kinds – close to home, from people they trust.”

This year’s budget includes $6.7 million that support community-based organizations that provide mental health, addictions and wellness services.

Over the past year, 75 mental health and addictions projects have been funded through 60 different organizations in Nova Scotia, with more to be announced this month.
