A local high school boys hockey team won a provincial championship on home ice.
The Par-en-Bas Sharks are Division 2 champs.
They beat West Kings 3-1 in Sunday’s championship game at Mariners Centre.
Captain and graduating player Alyre Richardson says it’s a great feeling.
“We put in the work, and proved that we had what it takes. It was the time of my life, I’m not sad that it’s over, I’m happy it happened,” said Richardson.
Dominic Jacquard scored twice and Zander White was solid in net to seal the championship win.
It’s the second straight provincial title for the Sharks.
Head Coach Julien Boudreau says it’s a special group of players.
“It’s extra special to do it in front of your home fans, family and friends. There’s an added pressure there, but that’s what it’s all about,” said Boudreau.
About 1,000 fans turned out to watch the Sharks repeat as champions.
