Rinks skipped by Kim Beaudry of Fort Frances and Thunder Bay’s Dylan Johnston will represent Northern Ontario at the Canadian Curling Club Championships to be held in November in Barrie, Ontario.

Beaudry rink beat Kenora’s Crystal Taylor 9-8 in the women’s final on Sunday.

The two teams finished with identical 5-1 records in the round-robin portion of the northern Ontario championship played at the Fort Frances Curling Club.

Taylors earned the bye to the final with an 8-4 win over Beaudry.

Beaudry was forced into a semi-final game where they held on for a 7-6 win over Jodi Judd of Thunder Bay to earn the rematch with Taylor.

Beaudry took a 7-2 lead after five ends.

The Kenora rink fought back and drew the score even at 8-8 when they scored four in the seventh end before Beaudry scored the winning point in the final end.

Beaudry’s teammates include Barb Roy, Victoria Beaudry and Taylor Sopotiuck.

Johnston needed the minimum of four games to capture the men’s crown, capped with a 9-6 win over the Bryan Burgess rink, also from Thunder Bay.

Johnston started by scoring 3 in the opening end and finished with a four-ender in the 7th.
