Tourism Kenora launches Frost Bites

By Tim Davidson Mar 4, 2024 | 10:30 AM

For the first time since before the pandemic, Kenora is bringing back a winter culinary event.

This year it’s called Frost Bites and it begins today.

Tourism development officer Josh Nelson says they have eight restaurants that are participating this year.

“It was really an opportunity to provide a different concept,” explains Nelson.

“In the past there was a set menu with an appetizer, an entree, and dessert for a set price.  We wanted to see how the restaurants could be a little more creative and they definitely stepped up.”

Nelson adds the restaurants will have a different feature each week.

“All the menu items that you are going to see come out aren’t typical menu.  So these are new menu items that the restaurants are trying out. The second piece, we have a passport system.  So with the passport you go, you try out these new menu items, you get a stamp that you’ve tried out that menu item at that restaurant.”

Nelson says with the Frost Bites passport you are eligible to win a prize.

This week the feature is burgers and wraps.

Next week it will be wings, then poutine and appetizers and desserts.
