2 more donation drives to help the less fortunate

Project Green Room in Saint John will have two more dates to drop off donated items for the less fortunate.

Street Team SJ, Fresh Start, the city, and several community organizations are working to help those experiencing homelessness.

Volunteers will be collecting used or gently used clothing, personal hygiene items, and cash donations at the former Hilton Belyea Arena on Lowell Street on March 2 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Johanne McCullough, project coordinator and Street Team SJ founder, said they were happy with the results from last weekend, but they are still in need of men’s athletic wear such as gym pants, hoodies and sweatshirts.

McCullough also said volunteers are needed to help catalogue the items.

“Volunteers are definitely welcomed either the day of, and then usually in the days following so we can continue to sort through the donations and organize them and get them catalogue so they will be available online for our different organizations to choose from,” said McCullough.

McCullough said you can message her through the Street Team SJ Facebook page if you want to volunteer.

A full list of the items being accepted can be found here.
