It’s a day off school for students in Anglophone East, Anglophone South, and most of Francophone South, except for Fredericton and Oromocto.

They have all closed due to weather and the potential for messy road conditions throughout the day.

Environment Canada says temperatures are expected to plunge below freezing within a short timeframe. That’s going to make the water on roads and sidewalks freeze and will mean icy conditions.

Lots of rain has fallen across the province. Environment Canada says over 82 millimetres fell in the Saint John and Quispamsis regions as of 2 a.m. Thursday.

The Sussex region saw over 79 millimetres, according to the weather agency, where there is flooding and road closures.

St. Stephen received over 30 millimetres on Wednesday.

There have also been reported washouts on some roadways.
