By Randy Thoms Feb 26, 2024 | 4:16 AM

Hunting a moose without the proper license has cost an Atikokan man.

Court was told Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers came across two hunters in the area of Ann Bay Road, north of Atikokan, in October 2022 with a cow moose in the back of a truck.

The animal was tagged using a calf tag.

The Ministry says instead of admitting to the mistake, the hunter invalidated his tag with the intent of taking the animal.

Instead, conservation officers seized it and donated the meat to families in need.
