A dream come true, that is the feeling of Kim Baigrie now she has been sworn in officially the Mayor of Ignace.

Last month Baigrie won a vote held by council between her and Councillor Jodie Defeo and took the oath of office during Tuesday’s council meeting, an act she never thought she would perform.

“Absolutely not, never expected this whatsoever, excited that it has, you know this is my fourth term.”

Last April she took on the mantle of leadership for the community following the abrupt resignation of Bill Gascon.

Going forward Baigrie is excited to work with the rest of her colleagues on council as the community has several big items ahead of it this year, including the looming final decision on whether an underground nuclear waste storage facility will be given the green light, which would give the community a quantum leap in its economy.
