Installation for high-speed internet in Inverness County delayed

By Caitlin Snow Feb 23, 2024 | 12:23 PM

If you live in Inverness County and still do not have high speed internet, you’ll have to wait even longer.

MLA Allan MacMaster says the installation process of fibre optic cable, is well behind schedule, with only 70 per cent of residents connected.

He says this is due to not enough trained workers to do the installation, as well as some property owners who do not want fibre optic cable and new power poles on their property.

MacMaster adds that he is unable to enforce penalties for missed deadlines due to what is written in the contract with the provider; but will not let up until everyone who wants high speed internet has access to it.

He says he is assured Judique, Port Hood and Margaree Harbour will be up and running by this spring.
