City giving out sandbags for runoff water

By CJ Goater Feb 21, 2024 | 1:58 PM

Warmer than normal temperatures are increasing the risk of early snow and ice runoff water.

To support residents with controlling excess water, the city of Kenora is providing sandbags for residents to fill and take home as needed.

Sandbags can be picked up at Fire Hall Station 1, and can be filled at the stockpile on the north side of Fourteenth Street North, down from the fire hall, near the Operations Centre.

The city is also requesting information if you see areas where culverts are frozen or areas that may be flood-prone, report it at 807-467-2000.

By reporting the issue, you can help the city combat water and ice flows before they damage roads, water mains, and other infrastructure.
