The Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation following a motor vehicle collision.

Early Saturday afternoon members of the OPP  and Rainy River Emergency Medical Service responded to a two-vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles at the intersection of Barwick Road and Mather Road in the Chapple Township.

Minor injuries were reported and treated at the scene by EMS.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of one of the motor vehicles had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Rainy River District OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 34-years-old Devlin resident has been arrested and charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to yield – yield sign
  • Fail to have an insurance card

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court in Rainy River in May.
