A new Chief Administrative Officer has been hired by the District of Rainy River Services Board.

Charene Gillies will assume the position on March 4th.

She is a former resident of Fort Frances who has been working in Toronto in different capacities for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services in Toronto for the past fourteen years.

The DRRSB says Gillies brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position.

She was also president of the board of a large child-care centre, the first Program Coordinator for the Kenora Rainy River District Crisis Response Service, and a former Executive Director for the Rainy River District Women’s Shelter of Hope.

“We are thrilled to welcome Charene to the District of Rainy River Services Board,” says Debbie Ewald, chair of the DRRSB.

“Her significant experience working within the provincial government, which focused on enabling the delivery of more integrated, accessible, and cost-effective programs and services for children, youth, vulnerable individuals, families, and communities, aligns seamlessly with our mandate. Along with her proven track record of leadership, we look forward to Charene’s guidance and direction as we move forward with our strategic goals and priorities.”

Gillies will replace Dan McCormick, who announced his retirement last year, but agreed to stay on until his replacement was found and assist with the transition.
