Fire damages Moncton home, garage

No injuries were reported after a fire in Moncton’s north end on Friday morning.

The Moncton Fire Department says it was called to a home on Misty Court shortly after 10 a.m.

Platoon Chief Keith Guptill said they were told there was smoke coming from the eaves and a window.

“We found that there was a lot of smoke in the home, even more so in the attic,” Guptill told our newsroom.

Fire crews located the blaze, which Guptill said was in the attached garage portion of the home.

He said crews made quick work of the flames and extinguished the fire in under 15 minutes.

“We did have to cut a hole in the roof [of the home] for ventilation in order to get all that smoke out of the attic,” said Guptill.

No one was home at the time of the fire, he said, and none of the firefighters were hurt.

Guptill said there was extensive damage to the garage and smoke damage throughout the home.

No word yet on how the fire started.
