By Regis Phillips Feb 15, 2024 | 3:37 PM

The 44th annual Monctonian Slowpokes Hockey Tournament is underway.

The tournament has 66 teams registered from across Atlantic Canada and the northeastern United States.

Teams are divided into two divisions for the women and four divisions for the men.

“There’s a social aspect that’s involved with that where everybody gets to meet players and teams they played over the years,” said Pierre Melanson, defenceman and tournament chair.

“There are some people that get together and come in all over just to come to this tournament so it’s a great social thing.”

Games are being played at three different arenas: Moncton Coliseum, Kay Arena, and the 4Plex (Superior Propane Centre).

Action continues through Sunday. The tournament schedule can be found by clicking here.
