Police say a man and a woman have died after their vehicles collided near Sussex.

First responders were called to Route 114 in Penobsquis around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Mounties believe a vehicle travelling eastbound encountered a mechanical issue of some sort.

It caused the driver to lose control and hit a second vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The man died at the scene while the woman later died in the hospital, according to police.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who lives in the area and witnessed the collision, has security camera footage from the time of the incident, or has any information.
