Gift From the Heart Radiothon switches gears to support ICU

By Evan Taylor Feb 13, 2024 | 3:03 PM

After supporting the Brighter Days campaign and the South Shore Hospital redevelopment fund for the past three years, this year the 14th annual Gift From the Heart Radiothon will be supporting upgrades to South Shore Regional Hospital’s ICU.

The Health Services Foundation is hoping the local community can come together to raise $150,000 in support of the South Shore’s only ICU, to purchase:

  • Wall & sliding doors kits for patient rooms.
  • A new ICU bed and mattress.
  • 4 broada glider chairs.
  • 3 adjustable tilt broada chairs with tray tables.
  • 1 ultrasound machine.
  • A mobile workstation for doctors

Health Services Foundation Strategic Engagement Manager Alison Clements says after years of raising funds for the major hospital redevelopment this year’s fundraiser is more focused in scope. “With COVID the importance of the ICU really showed itself, so we want to update it with some new equipment to make it better for staff and patients,”.

Clements says the mobile workstation in particular has drawn alot of excitement from doctors in the ICU who will be able to more easily move around the unit and serve their patients.

This year you can support the Radiothon in a variety of ways- donations can be made in person on Valentines Day at the South Shore Regional Hospital or the Best Western, you can also call the telethon line at 1-833-368-3800 or you can support it by bidding on items on the silent auction.

You can find the full event details on our Gift From the Heart Radiothon homepage.
