The Thunder Bay District Health Unit’s suspension orders for high school students with missing vaccine records are now in effect.

The health unit began mailing out suspension orders in January for high school students who have incomplete vaccine records. Each suspension order came with a three-week timer that expired before Monday morning.

It was announced in December that the usual enforcement of the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) to protect against vaccine-preventable diseases was going into effect, leading to the suspensions.

Parents and guardians could have received the suspension order for missing vaccinations or incomplete vaccine records.

If you are currently dealing with a suspension due to an incomplete vaccine record you should contact the health unit for next steps.
