3 Sioux Lookout residents charged after traffic stop

3 Individuals are facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Highway 72 in Sioux Lookout.

On Wednesday, members of the Ontario Provincial Police conducted a traffic stop for speeding.

One of the passengers had a warrant out for their arrest and was identified by police during the stop.

Further investigation revealed the three occupants were transporting a large amount of suspected illicit substances including cocaine and methamphetamine.

Canadian currency and items associated with drug trafficking were seized along with multiple cell phones and a motor vehicle.

A 32-years-old Sioux Lookout resident has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Speeding 1 – 49 km/h over the posted limit

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Court on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

A 27-years-old, Sioux Lookout resident has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was remanded into custody in Kenora with a court appearance scheduled for Monday, February 12.

A 51-years-old, Sioux Lookout resident has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and they are scheduled to appear before the Court on March 5.
