Tourism industry excited for more ‘CAT’ ferry sailings

The ‘CAT’ ferry’s season will be a bit longer in 2024.

The Bay Ferries vessel will run between Yarmouth and Bar Harbor, Maine for a third consecutive season, starting May 17.

In the first few weeks the ferry will not run Tuesday and Wednesday’s but will begin daily trips on June 20.

The last crossings will happen on October 15.

Neil MacKenzie with the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association says it’s great news.

“More visitors coming, and a longer season for visitors to get here. It really helps us out during the shoulder seasons, and really helps to kick the season into gear,” said MacKenzie.

He says they’ve been working hard to plan budgets and marketing strategies.

“Bay Ferries began selling tickets back in November, and they’ve got specials on now. We’re busy making plans trying to leverage that, and we’re looking forward to the season.”
