A teenage boy is dead and another has been charged with manslaughter following a shooting in Moncton.

RCMP said they responded to a report of a shot fired at a residence on Sands Drive around 9:20 p.m. Monday.

“When police arrived at the scene, they located a 16-year-old youth inside of the residence who was suffering from a gunshot wound,” Mountied said in a news release on Tuesday.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Police said a 15-year-old was arrested about an hour after the incident. He appeared in court on Tuesday and was charged with manslaughter.

The teen was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday.

Investigators said they believe this was an isolated incident.
