RCMP make arrests in stolen property investigation

Two Moncton residents have been arrested in an RCMP investigation into stolen property.

Mounties began an investigation into the possession of stolen property in January.

On Feb. 1, police arrested a 44-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman during a traffic stop.

Subsequent to the arrests, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Marsh Street in Moncton.

Officers seized suspected stolen property, including high-end bicycles and stolen power tools.

The man and woman were later released from custody and have court dates in May.

RCMP are reminding the public to record the serial numbers of tools, bicycles and other valuable items as a way to be able to identify their possessions if they are stolen.

Adding identifying marks or labels to property, or taking photos can also be helpful, police said.

‘In this particular case, owners of the recovered stolen property had been able to provide serial numbers so we were able to quickly identify them during the search in order to return them to their rightful owners,” said Codiac RCMP Insp. Chantal Farrah.
