3 people have pleaded guilty to offences involving unsafe hunting practices.

Frederick Evers of Kingsville has pleaded guilty to unlawfully hunting big game and discharging a firearm from a motorboat and was fined a total of $9,000 and has also had his hunting licence suspended for one year.

Michael Boose of Essex has pleaded guilty to unlawfully hunting big game and discharging a firearm from a motorboat and was fined $8,500.

Richard McCarty of Wheatley pleaded guilty to unlawfully invalidating a tag concerning an animal killed by another person and was fined $2,000.

On October 14, 2022, conservation officers conducted a remote moose enforcement flight and stopped at Lac Seul, where a successful moose hunting group was contacted.

Through an investigation, it was determined that Evers and Boose shot a cow moose from a motorboat.

At the time, they were over 17 kilometres from the tagholder McCarty, contrary to party hunting rules that require them to be within five kilometres of the tag holder.
