Following almost three years leading Synergy North, President Tim Wilson says he will retire this May.

Wilson informed the Board of Directors of his retirement Friday, putting an end to a two decade career.

He joined then Thunder Bay Hydro in 2001 as Manager of Market Compliance before holding a variety of other leadership roles within the utility over the years.

His focus was that of strategic initiatives and played a key role in the merger with Kenora Hydro, which resulted in the formation of Synergy North in January of 2019.

Wilson took over the role of President in May of 2021, following the retirement of Rob Mace, a role he says he was grateful to have held and feels he is leaving the utility in a good position.

“I am leaving with a deep sense of fulfillment, knowing that the company is in capable hands. My sincere thanks to everyone who has been part of the journey.”

In addition to that role Wilson also served as the Chair of the Electrical Distribution Association and director for the MEARIE Group, an insurance company with a focus on the energy sector in Ontario.

A search to select a new president and Chief Executive Officer will be lead by Synergy North’s Board of Directors and is expected to being in the coming weeks.
