Winter storm warnings issued for parts of N.B.

By Tara Clow Feb 4, 2024 | 2:21 PM

Residents in Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, Kent County and areas to the north are going to be digging out by Monday morning.

Environment Canada has now issued a winter storm warning for those regions of the province.

An additional 15 centimetres is expected to fall by tomorrow, with winds up to 80 kilometres an hour, especially near the Northumberland Strait.

Environment Canada says this is due to a low pressure system has stalled south of the Maritimes.

This is the same system that has already dumped around 45 centimetres of snow in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and has residents in Cape Breton and Eastern Nova Scotia bracing for up to 100 centimetres.

Conditions are expected to deteriorate and we can expect blowing snow and whiteout conditions.

If you plan to travel, consider postponing until conditions improve.
