A 48-year-old man is dead after an accident ice fishing on the Bras D’or Lake.

First responders found the man on Sunday, approximately 30 metres offshore near MacIvor Road and Portage Road in Inverness County.

The lake was partially frozen and an ice-rescue sled was used to bring the man to shore.

Police say he was from Cape Breton Regional Municipality and the death is not believed to be suspicious.

No other details have been released at the request of the family.
