The Sioux Lookout Bombers continue to hold down first place in the SIJHL standings after a split with the Kam River Fighting Walleye.

The Walleye prevailed in their Friday night tilt 5-4 in overtime, but the Bombers came back on Saturday with a 4-1 win.

The Thunder Bay North Stars are charging up the standings and now site in second place after winning two of three games over the weekend against the Kenora Islanders.

The Islanders surprised the North Stars on Friday night with only their second win of the season, a 3-1 decision.

The North Stars replied on Saturday and Sunday with 8-2 and 9-1 victories respectively.

The Dryden GM Ice Dogs hold down 4th place thanks to a 3-2 win Saturday night against the Red Lake Miners.

The Fort Frances Lakers split their games against the Wisconsin Lumberjacks with a 5-4 Friday night, but lost 7-6 in overtime on Saturday.

 

The Brandon Wheat Kings showed by they are the class of the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League.

The Wheat Kings have not lost a game in regulation this year and dumped the Kenora Thistles by identical 12-1 scores on both Saturday night and Sunday.

Cole Bodnar scored the long Thistle goal in the Saturday game, while  Callum McCormick had the only goal in Sunday’s game.

The Thistles don’t play again until this Saturday when they are at home to the Pembina Valley Hawks.
