1 person injured in South Ford Street fire

Thunder Bay Fire Investigation on Scene at South Ford Street Fire - CJ Goater

Thunder Bay Fire responded to a structural fire on South Ford Street Monday morning.

A passerby noticed smoke and flames coming from the second story of a home and reported it to emergency services.

Thunder Bay Fire responded to the structural fire with four pumpers and a Command vehicle.

The first fire crew on scene was able to apply water to the exterior of the structure before they made entry into the building to search for possible victims while extinguishing the remainder of the fire.

The two occupants of the home had fortunately made it out of the house and one was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

According to Thunder Bay Fire, the timely call to 911 allowed for the fire to be quickly brought under control and extinguished.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue is reminding residents to ensure all smoke detectors are in working order and to never smoke in bed.
