Report released on public feedback for Mariners Centre expansion

By Kevin Northup Jan 26, 2024 | 2:58 PM

Positives and negatives in a new report on Mariners Centre expansion.

The report gathered public feedback from sessions held in December.

It found many were pleased to see it as a stand-alone structure next to the current building.

Expansion committee chair Nicole Albright says a lack of a gymnasium and a universal change room design raised some concerns.

“We’re definitely taking these concerns seriously, that’s why we asked people how they felt about the project. We will address as many things as we can, and let people know how we’re going to do that,” said Albright.

A tender for construction is expected to go out in June, with shovels in the ground this fall.

“We still are on track for that. We’re on track with our budget and timelines. Things are going really well.”
