Town remains silent about fire chief

The town of Fort Frances has named its Chief Building Official as interim Community Emergency Management Coordinator.

The coordinator oversees the town’s emergency management program.

John Burrows takes over the position normally held by fire chief Tyler Moffit.

The town is not commenting on Moffit’s status.

An administration report to council regarding Burrow’s appointment states, “due to the temporary unavailability of our designated CEMC, it has become necessary to appoint an interim CEMC.”

Interim Chief Administrative Officer Travis Rob would not confirm if Moffitt is on leave, only saying it is a personnel matter.

Moffitt has been with the town’s fire department since 1987 and hired as fire chief in October 2016.
