Yarmouth-Maine ferry set for longer season

By Steve MacArthur Jan 23, 2024 | 8:45 PM

The upcoming sailing season for the Yarmouth to Maine ferry will run longer and make more crossings.

The first trip over to Bar Harbour is set for May 17 and the season will wrap up on October 15.

Nearly 39,000 passengers hopped on the ferry last year, which was up compared to previous years.

Bay Ferries reported a challenging season in 2023 with 17 weather-related cancellations.

In the first few weeks the ferry will not run Tuesday and Wednesday’s but begin daily trips on June 20.

The province is currently working on an economic impact study around the publicly funded ferry to determine its value to the tourism sector and economy.
