The East Coast Music Award nominees are out.

PEI’s East Pointers lead the pack with 7 nominations, followed by Nova Scotia’s Jenn Grant and Newfoundland’s Tim Baker.

Cape Breton’s Jimmy Rankin has 4 nods, 88 of the total nominations come from NS.

CEO of the awards Andy McLean says they’re looking forward to the week in Charlottetown.

“We know Islanders are no strangers to great music, and we’re looking forward to bringing you all the events that make the ECMA’s one of a kind,” said McLean during a news conference.

The awards will take place during the first week of May.

PEI Premier Dennis King says it’s exciting for the region.

“I don’t make many promises in this profession, but I promise you we’ll have a heck of a time in Charlottetown this May,” said King.
