Mariners split weekend home games as division race heats up

A weekend split at home for the Yarmouth Mariners.

They started with a 3-2 comeback win over Pictou County on Friday night.

Yarmouth fell behind 2-0 before rallying to get the victory, Jerome Nadeau had the winner in the 3rd.

The Mariners lost a tight 4-2 game to league-leading Summerside on Saturday.

Jefferson Coffin scored his first MHL goal in the loss.

Thomas Fontaine was between the pipes for both games on the weekend.

The Mariners hit the road this Saturday for a rematch with the Caps on Saturday, then a game in Amherst Sunday afternoon.

It’s a tight race in the Eastlink South Division.

After the weekend, Yarmouth is tied for second place with the Crushers and Amherst, and just a point up on Truro for a playoff spot.
