Argyle's 'net-zero energy' municipal building in Tusket (Acadia News)

Argyle hosting public hearing on wind farm project

A proposed wind farm will be discussed at a public hearing.

It’s happening at the Municipality of Argyle’s office in Tusket Thursday night.

13 turbines would be installed in Upper Wedgeport, Comeau’s Hill and Little River Harbour.

Warden Danny Muise says they’re hoping for a good turnout from the public.

“Now is the time for them to come forward and give their opinions and concerns. After the hearing, it will go to council for second reading,” said Muise.

The province gave environmental approval for the Wedgeport Wind Farm project from Elemental Energy last year.

Muise says they haven’t heard a tremendous amount of opposition from the public.

“But there are a few with concerns. But once you can explain their concerns, sometimes they will feel better about the project.”

Muise says second reading will take place in February.
