A high-risk offender is facing a list of charges including sexual assault, robbery and forcible confinement.
Police warned the public in October about 49-year-old Gaymon Jay Leacock living in the community after a 14-year sentence.
Police say Monday, just before 3pm, he approached a woman in a parked vehicle on South Street in Halifax and offered her cash for a ride. She then drove him to Cunard Street where he allegedly assaulted, threatened and stole from her before running away.
Shortly after, he broke into a home on Clifton Street, where he threatened, sexually assaulted and barricaded two women in a bedroom; one believed to be the same victim from earlier in the day.
The victims fought him off before he ran away.
Police found Leacock in the backyard of a home on Hunter Street around 3:30pm. He was arrested and taken to hospital where he tried to escape.
He is scheduled to appear in court today to face these charges:
- Aggravated sexual assault (x2)

- Robbery
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
