If you need help heating your home this winter and are on a low-income, a fund through the Salvation Army may be able to help you out.

You can apply to the Home Energy Assistance Top-Up Fund if:

  • You live in Nova Scotia and are within the following low-income thresholds:
    • $29,000 for one-person households,
    • $47,703 for two to four person households, and
    • $67,937 for households of five or more individuals.
  • Your household has not received assistance from the HEAT Fund in the past 24 months.
  • Your household is experiencing an emergency heating situation.

The Fund started January 15 and will continue until the money is gone.

The Salvation Army says the program has been running for over 20 years keeping thousands of Nova Scotians warm.
