A sudden death investigation is underway in Sioux Lookout following the discovery of a deceased woman in the community.

Ontario Provincial Police say they, along with paramedics responded to a 911 call in the area of First Avenue North on January 9th.

There they located the body of 32 year old Dawna Masakeyash.

The region’s Crime Unit along with the Criminal Investigation Branch are conducting the investigation alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology service.

At this time police do not believe there is a risk to public safety, and note residents will see an increased police presence in the area.
