RCMP officer, North Sydney man taken to hospital after three-vehicle collision

An RCMP officer as well as North Sydney man were taken to hospital after a three-vehicle collision in Coxheath, Cape Breton.

RCMP say it happened Sunday morning on Hwy 125.

An officer had stopped a Dodge RAM when their SUV was rear-ended by a Toyota Corolla.

This pushed the SUV into the RAM and the Corolla spun into the median of the highway, causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

The Nova Scotia RCMP is reminding motorists that if an emergency vehicle is pulled over with its emergency lights flashing, it’s the law to slow down to 60 km/h or obey the speed limit if it’s lower than 60 km/h. If drivers are on a road with two or more lanes going in their direction, they must also move into another lane, farther away from the stopped vehicle, if it’s safe to do so.
