The annual Festive R.I.D.E campaign by Saint John police led to more than a dozen arrests.

A total of 11,138 vehicles passed through the checkpoints throughout December.

That was compared to 6,965 in 2022 and 7,428 vehicles in 2021.

Nine people were arrested for impaired driving and four others for refusal.

Police also issued 28 seven-day driving suspensions and impounded 16 vehicles.

Officers also caught one suspended driver and one prohibited driver.

The campaign is a partnership between the Saint John Police Force, the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, the Department of Justice and Public Safety, and the MADD Saint John & Area Chapter.
