Mariners quiet on deadline day after active trade period

The Yarmouth Mariners were quiet on MHL trade deadline day.

But 2 new faces will join the club this weekend after deals earlier in the week.

Defenders Fabrice Bourgeois and Nick Dyson will bolster the blueline

Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says he’s happy with his club.

“We would have liked to add one more forward, but we do have until February 10th to add an un-carded player. We’ll take a look at our options. We have pretty much a full line-up, and we’ll be ready to go,” says Barron.

He says having Captain Will Chisholm and Jerome Nadeau back from injury, along with the returning Michael Marquez will really help the forward group.

Defender Tyler Lee has returned home to have knee surgery, but they’re hoping to have him back for the playoffs.

Barron adds that things are tight in the division.

“We are tied for second place right now, we want to have home-ice advantage in the first round. We have a great group of kids in that dressing room, and we’re ready to go forward.”

The team will hope to snap a 3-game losing streak as they host Amherst on Sunday night.
