Digby continues to make noise on Highway 101 completion

By Kevin Northup Jan 10, 2024 | 1:47 PM

A section of Highway 101 needs to be completed.

That’s been the long-time message from Digby Warden Linda Gregory and council.

The road from Marshalltown to Weymouth has 90 and 80 kilometre zones, running through a residential area.

Gregory says it needs to be on the 5-year provincial plan.

“So that it can go to the federal government, who will put in their money so that it can happen. We were advised that it could still be 10-12 years away,” said Gregory.

She says the local Chamber of Commerce is launching a public awareness campaign.

Gregory says she’d like to see this project take priority over highway twinning in other areas.

“I’ve been in council for 29 years, and we’ve been working on this that entire time. We were ecstatic when we got Digby to Marshalltown done in 2019.”

She adds people go 110 on that stretch of road, and try to pass those going the speed limit, making it dangerous for road users and school busses.
