Kenora gets mixed reviews in a business satisfaction survey conducted this past fall.

Deloitte says it’s contacted 115 businesses in the city to find out how they are doing.

84 percent said they were locally owned and operated and 32 planned to expand, 10 within the next six months.

55 percent said they increased their revenue in the past year and 56 percent project they will see an increase in the next 12 months.

47 percent says they were satisfied with owning a business in the city, however, 41 percent had negative feelings doing business here.

While the businesses indicate 83 percent support from local residents and other businesses, they mentioned a lack of housing and skilled labour as some of the detractions.

Deloitte says a red flag is the fact that 16 businesses plan to downsize, close altogether or sell.

Cleanliness and safety were also mentioned as some of their concerns.
