Newly relocated ReStore sees massive success

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Saint John has moved to a new location on the city’s east side.

The new location, located on McAllister Drive, opened its doors to the public on Jan. 2.

Perry Kendall, provincial CEO of Habitat for Humanity, said the new location was needed.

“Our ReStore was located for over 10 years on Rothesay Avenue and, due to several factors, we decided to sell that building and move to a fantastic new leased location on McAllister Drive,” said Kendall.

“We had a fantastic first week with great support from the Saint John community, and we’re seeing an increased volume of customers and a strong volume of donations as well.”

Kendall said the ReStore is a great way to donate used household items, such as furniture, appliances and home decor.

“It’s just a fantastic way for people to divert waste from landfills and donate those products so people in the community can reuse them,” he said.

Kendall said a nearby restaurant is going through renovations, and the ReStore is selling its used equipment.

“We get some surprising items for sure, so you never know what’s being donated and what’s for sale,” he said.

The new ReStore is located at 171 McAllister Drive. Kendall said they are always looking for new volunteers.
