Dieppe Mayor looking forward to new outdoor Pickleball courts

By Tara Clow Jan 3, 2024 | 7:14 AM

Pickleball enthusiasts in Dieppe are eagerly awaiting the opening of ten outdoor courts, located next to the Arthur J. Leblanc Arena.

Mayor Yvon Lapierre first told us about funding to build those courts during a year-end interview in 2022.

Lapierre gave us an update last week, which is a year later.  He now expects they will open in the spring, but no firm opening date has been set yet.

“The ten courts that we built have not been put to use yet because we wanted to be safe and ensure that everything is perfect, but I will tell you that the buzz around those ten courts has been phenomenal.”

He says they have been working closely with the local Pickleball organizations and are looking forward to opening those new courts.

“I even ended up getting a Pickleball paddle from Santa Claus this year. So I guess I’m going to be taking up a new sport,” Lapierre joked.
