Man facing assault and robbery charges after attempting to steal jewelry

A man is facing several charges after attempting to steal jewelry in Sambro.

Police say it was around 7am on December 31, in the area of Martins Point Rd.

The suspect met a man known to him, in order to buy jewelry.

He then threatened the victim, hit him with what his believed to be a firearm, then drove away with the jewelry.

Police arrested the 27-year-old at home in Timberlea, shortly after.

He will appear in court today facing these charges:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death
  • Possession weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
