December a lot warmer and drier than usual

By Tim Davidson Jan 2, 2024 | 12:46 PM

Last month was much, much warmer than usual and a lot drier.

The daily mean temperature in December was -4.3 Celsius.

That’s almost 10 degrees above our average of -14.1 degrees.

Not surprisingly there were a couple of temperature records set, including a high of 4 degrees on Christmas Eve.

The previous high was 2.2 set back in 1953.

In terms of precipitation, we actually got more rain than snow in December with 10.6 millimeters, compared to just 5.6 centimeters of snow.

That’s about half of the average precipitation we normally get, with 25.7 falling.

Last month we had just 12.4 millimeters.
