The lights are back on after an incident involving police knocked out power in the Herring Cove area.

More than 4,000 were without electricity for a few hours after a car crash led to outages but everything was restored by midnight on Wednesday.

A photo sent to our newsroom from the scene, shows a smashed up car and officers surrounding the vehicle.

Other pictures show trees falling on power lines.

The crash happened near Herring Cove Road and Shoreham Lane.

No word on arrests or if there are any injuries.
