No charge to cross Halifax bridges on Christmas Day

By Steve MacArthur Dec 22, 2023 | 6:10 PM

The drive across Halifax Harbour’s two bridges will be toll-free on Christmas Day.

Halifax Harbour Bridges announced Friday that it will continue its longstanding tradition of raising the toll gates and allowing traffic to cross the bridges on December 25 without charge.

“Not charging tolls on Christmas Day is a nice way to conclude the year and say thank you to our employees and customers,” says HHB CEO Tony Wright.

The toll-free period will begin at 12 a.m. on Dec. 25 and will last for 24 hours.

The free crossing applies to both the Angus L. Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay bridges in Halifax.
