Woman faces several charges after chase in downtown Halifax

A woman is facing several charges after a police chase in downtown Halifax.

Around 3:50 a.m. on Friday, police tried to stop a vehicle near Brunswick and Prince streets.

The driver would not pull over and police say she  attempted to hit the officers with her car. The chase ended when the driver crashed into a parked vehicle on Tower Road.

The police detained the driver and confiscated a knife.

The 24-year-old was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Charges include impaired driving, dangerous driving, flight from police, resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

She was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for other police agencies in relation to charges for break and enter, theft under $5,000, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
